So, first, Turbo Fire has been awesome. So in love, so addicted. Still so far to go…
Speaking of in love, this whole trip came about to go to Mike’s (my? I don’t yet grasp “in-law” language) cousin’s wedding. Doesn’t he look snazzy?
Then, his parents, brothers, and Kristen (the adorable other vegan of the fam) took us and two cars down to IL.
While in the Chicago area, we made a stop at The Chicago Diner. OMEGAYUMYUMNOMNOMNOM. Kristen and I overloaded ourselves, but oh yes, it was awesome.
Sure, we saw Chicago sights,
I stuck my toes in Lake Michigan,
and we even stopped by the Anti-Cruelty Society to pick up a gift for Dax (yes, I am one of *those* people) and donated $5 (which they seemed overly excited about),
but the biggest part of the trip for me was spending time with my grandfather who was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He’s the best guy ever, and… well, that’s one more incentive to hurry and get this dissertation done, eh? Hopefully, he’ll get to see his granddaughter get her doctorate.
