Boston Veg Food Fest 2011!!!!!!

I am so incredibly fortunate in my life. I have wonderful friends and great resolve. I aim high and go hard, and I have fantastic people to support me in my journey. I had thought about going vegan for a while, but it wasn’t until going to the Boston Vegetarian Food Festival in 2007 that I decided to make the change. I saw a whole community of people who not only did it but were happy and thriving. This weekend, I celebrate four years of being vegan (my veganniversary!), and I got to spend it with fantastic veg friends eating delicious veg food and being a part of an awesome community.

Saturday was cold and rainy outside, but it was ridiculously hot and jammed with people at the VegFest. Laurie, Steph, Anne, and Kristen joined me that day, and four of us went to hear Ellen Jaffe Jones talk about Eating Vegan on $4 a Day.

After having milled about and attended the talk, it was slightly above freezing and raining outside, Kristen enjoyed some soft serve from Like No Udder!

I got my own with PB sauce…

Actually, on Sunday, when I came back with Steph and Amber joined us, when we walked in, we were sad to note that Like No Udder was not back… until we went out later!!! Here is Steph, super excited

Some other highlights-

Cosmo’s Vegan Shoppe (poor Cosmo passed recently, a well-loved kitty who will be missed)

Mercy for Animals

Food-wise, there was a lot to offer, but just a taste is Cafe Indigo (where they were selling vegan philly cheesesteak sammiches… oh yes, oh yes I did)

Veggie Galaxy had pies and cakes and other baked goodies the first day and burgers on Sunday

Bought some stuff from Vegan Treats. Here’s just the cannoli…

But, of course, my fave place to visit was Vegan Proteins, No Meat Athlete, and Vegan Body Building, all in a row!!!

The best part was seeing Chef AJ. I had already been thinking of giving up processed sugar (despite the images above), but she really inspired all three of us who attended her talk today. Of course, it helped that her Life By Chocolate truffles were AMAZING!!!!

I love how much this event inspires me every year. I will miss it!

much love,
M.E.
